Fees & payment
Dr. Thompson is not on any insurance panels at this time. Please contact her if, after reviewing the information on this page, you have questions about costs, estimates, insurance reimbursements, how to make a payment, or other billing questions.
Assessment fees & estimates
One-half of the estimated charge for the evaluation is to be paid at the first appointment and the balance at the final appointment. Dr. Thompson is happy to provide you with an estimated cost, depending on the nature of the concerns and the scope of the evaluation (focused or comprehensive). Dr. Thompson will provide a Good Faith Estimate of the overall cost prior to the first appointment.
Good Faith Estimate
You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the cost for medical items and services.
Please keep in mind:
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.
Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 1-800-562-6900.
Legal proceeding fees
If you become involved in legal proceedings that require my participation, you will be expected to pay for all of my professional time, including preparation and transportation costs, even if I am called to testify by another party.
Because of the difficulty of legal involvement, my hourly fees are higher. If this issue should arise, please ask for my fee structure with regard to legal proceedings.

Assistance with checking insurance benefits
Assistance is available for checking insurance benefits before appointments, including the important step of asking about pre-authorization requirements. Please let Dr. Thompson know if you would like assistance with this important step. For your convenience, Dr. Thompson’s office is available to electronically file a reimbursement claim after the account is paid in full (i.e., zero balance). Inform Dr. Thompson at least one week prior to the first appointment if the insurance subscriber’s employer is located outside of Washington State.
Assistance with filing reimbursement claims
Office staff are available to file a claim on your behalf to your insurance company for your reimbursement (at an out-of-network level) once payment in full has been received. Some insurance companies do not allow me to submit a claim for your reimbursement. In that case, our office will be happy to provide you with whatever receipts/paperwork you need to submit that reimbursement claim.
If you are anticipating reimbursement, questions about your out-of-network benefit are relevant. I will do everything I can to assist in this process, but it is your responsibility to keep track of this information so that you receive appropriate reimbursement.
Notes on reimbursements
Dr. Thompson is concerned about the amount of private client information that many insurance companies require in order to obtain reimbursement. The time spent on the paperwork and phone calls required by many companies for authorization of services detracts from the amount of time she is available to provide clinical service.
